Connected by @id
The step most sites miss, linking entities into one graph.
Schema markup is a standard vocabulary for describing your business in a way machines can't misread. Written as JSON-LD in your page source, it's invisible to visitors and decisive for engines.
Most sites that bother with schema add one disconnected block and stop. The value comes from connecting entities, your organization, your services, your offers and your FAQs referencing each other by @id, so an engine can resolve one coherent picture of your business rather than a pile of fragments.
Questions people ask
What schema markup does a small business need?
At minimum LocalBusiness (or Organization), Service for each thing you sell, Offer for pricing, and FAQPage for common questions, all linked together by @id so engines read them as one entity.
Does schema markup improve rankings?
It isn't a direct ranking factor, but it drives rich results and is close to essential for being cited in AI answers, because it removes any ambiguity about what your business is.
